How do I add a Yahoo e mail account to a Samsung Galaxy S2

In the past we looked at adding a hotmail account to your Samsung Galaxy S2, now we look at adding a yahoo account so that you can sync up your phone with any yahoo e-mails you may be getting.

For this guide weve gone through the settings menu as opposed to using the "E-mail widget". For this you will need to open up the settings and the scroll down to "Accounts and Sync" which will look like the screen on the right. At this screen you need to select "Add account" from the bottom of the screen.

After clicking on add account you will see a screen like the screen shot to the left. From h ere you need to select the "Yahoo! Mail" option which should be near the top of the options. After clicking on "Yahoo! Mail" you should see
a login screen like this one on the right.

At the login screen you need to enter your full yahoo e-mail address and your password. For your yahoo e-mail address you can also use a "rocketmail" e-mail address as well as yahoo.co.uk and yahoo.com. After entering your login details untick the "Set as premium account" box and select "Next" from the bottom of the screen (you will need to scroll down).

After pressing next the phone should connect with the server and soon afterwards you should be logged and synced up.

Note-As well as setting up a yahoo mail account this way you can also set up your hotmail or msn account in a similar fashion (clicking on hotmail in stead of yahoo). If you feel this is an easier method than going through the "e-mail" widget (there really isnt much difference).

If you have already tried some troubleshooting steps before emailing us, make sure to mention them so we can skip them in our answers.

Problem #1: Galaxy S7 edge not receiving complete SMS delivery reports

My mobile is Samsung S7 Edge. When I am sending SMS, it is not clear that after sending SMS, I view message details; in Delivery report it says: Requested  and status shows: Sent. But it is silent and we don’t see any indication that did the receiver received. It’s not transparent whether he reads or not, and what time he read is not shown too. Also, How many times he read is not shown too.
Also, I have noticed that the search screen is on top, which should be down & special features are missing in Contac ts which I need to send location to unknown # without saving. It is there but I have to select other parameters but it should be direct press on the same screen to forward the receiver.
And how to keep safe from hacking. â€" Joseph
Solution: Hi Joseph. In order for SMS delivery report to work, a few factors must be present. Such factors include:
  1. whether or not both carriers (yours and the recipient’s) support it,
  2. whether or not your mobile supports it
  3. Whether or not the messaging app you’re using supports it.
We are assuming that you’re using the stock messaging app so the second and third items in the list should not matter. We know that Samsung phones and their native messaging apps do support SMS delivery reports so there’s no problem in that. The main reason why you don’t seem to get the transparency you’re after has something to do with the carriers involved.
Every time you set your phone to receive delivery receipts, it sends a request to the carriers to provide you with a separate message so you’ll know the delivery status. The thing is, your request does not necessarily mean that they’re going to comply. In other words, carriers are not obligated to give you delivery reports even if you request for them. Your own carrier may comply with your request by giving you a head’s up on the delivery side but the other carrier may not comply by failing to provide a return notification to tell you whether or not the recipient received the message. This may be the reason why you’re not getting any indication if the recipient has read the message or not.
For your se cond question, we are not entirely sure which “search screen” you are referring to. We also don’t understand what you mean by special features in Contacts. Please contact us again and try to give more description of the features you’re missing so we can help you.

Problem #2: Newly unboxed Galaxy S7 won’t boot up normally, language set in Spanish

Out of the box my GALAXY S7 EDGE INTERNEATIONAL without warranty started in Spanish. After trying to find a way to change the language, the phone is locked in Save mode welcome screen. The root solution succeeded in a factory reinstall but it again came up on the safe mode screen with a blue line moving up and down on the screen. The two button and three button solution end up with the same safe mode screen and the blue line running up and down. The putting in and out of safe mode solution doesn’t do anything. â€" Dennis
Solution: Hi Dennis. If you can’t boot the phone normally, consider restarting it to recovery mode so you can do a factory reset. If this reset won’t fix the problem, you can assume that you have a bad phone. Find a way to have it replaced.
For reference, these are the steps on how to boot your S7 to recovery mode:
  1. Charge the phone for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Press and then hold the Home and Volume UP keys, then press and hold the Power key.
  3. When the Samsung Galaxy S7 shows on the screen, release the Power key but continue holding the Home and Volume Up keys.
  4. When the Android logo shows, you may release both k eys and leave the phone be for about 30 to 60 seconds.
  5. Using the Volume Down key, navigate through the options and highlight ‘wipe cache partition.’
  6. You can either wipe the cache partition or do a factory reset when in this mode.

Problem #3: Galaxy S7 edge stuck in boot l oop

I bought a Samsung Galaxy S7 edge that is unlocked through Verizon from I guy I know for $100. I knew the phone was stuck in a boot loop so in my mind I thought that it was an easy fix. But the guy I bought it off of had no idea what the problem was. So I went to Sammobile and downloaded the most recent Marshmallow firmware (don’t have Nougat) and I used Odin to flash it to the device. Odin said it was successful, but then it started rebooting when it goes to optimize the apps. I tried to wipe the cache, a master reset, and I tried to use Kies, but none of those were successful.
Well I found this tool called Verizon Repair Assistant. I downloaded it and it has an option to use the Repair Assistant or the Upgrade Assistant. Well, the Upgrade Assistant doesn’t recognize my device, so I used the Repair Assistant. After it was finished with “repairing” my phone, it will now boot up to the setup wizard, but then it reboots again. I am out of options and I can’t find anything else that could fix this phone. I have tried the master reset several times since then and even used Odin again, but it won’t get past the setup wizard. I have also tried other firmwares, but Odin fails on all of them except f or the Marshmallow. â€" Michael
Solution: Hi Michael. There’s only so much that you can do about this issue. At its worst, a boot loop problem can be also be caused by a bad hardware as well. In most cases, boot loop happens after a failed software modification. Sometimes, a corrupted bootloader can also be attributed to the problem. A user is supposed to try flashing stock firmware to fix the issue. Since you’ve already tried that, the problem must be beyond an average user’s ability to fix. That means that you may just have bought yourself a $100-brick. Like you, there’s nothing else that we can do to help in this case. We doubt Samsung can even fix it.

Problem #4: Galaxy S7 won’t charge and boots to download mode when charger is connected

Whilst playing tri peaks solitaire my phone ran out of battery. I plugged it in to charge and a blue screen came on almost instantly with factory mode at the top, product name: G930FD, current binary : Samsung official, System status : official, Reactivation lock: off Secure download : enabled KNOX WARRANTY VOID: 0 (0X0000) RP SWREV B:4 K:2 S: 2 and a big downloading icon downloading do not turn off target. When i unplug the charger, the screen goes blank and the phone won’t turn on. i plug the charger in and the same blue screen appears. I’ve tried a soft restart when plugged in and not. Only thing that happens is if charging the blue screen goes on and off . What is going on with my phone please? â€" Mrs Helen
Solution: Hi Mrs Helen. One of the reasons that we can think of why the phone behaves as if you’ve booted it to Odin or Download mode is a bad charging port. Sometimes, a bent pin inside the charging port can skew how a phone reacts when you connect a charger. If that’s the case, you may be able to fix the problem by checking the charging port with the help of some form of magnification so you can see what’s inside. Also, you want to make sure that there’s no foreign object inside that may be interfering with the charger when it’s plugged in. if you can see that a pin is out of place, you can either try to straighten it out yourself, or you can let a professional fix it for you. However, if everything appears to be in place, a software glitch or an unknown hardware malfunction may be behind the trouble.
Just like in other troubleshooting steps, we suggest that you try all relevant software solutions first before committing to a hardware repair, or even replacement. The first thing that you want to do here is to observe the phone in safe mode. Here’s how:
  1. Turn your Galaxy S7 off.
  2. Press and hold the Power button.
  3. Once the ‘Samsung Galaxy S7’ logo appears, release the Power key and immediately press and hold the Volume Down button.
  4. Continue holding the button until the phone finishes rebooting.
  5. Once you see the text “Safe mode” at the bottom left corner of the screen, release the Volume Down button.
To see if the issue has something to do with the operating system, you can also try a master reset. Doing so will restore all software settings back to their known working state, effectively eliminating bugs and glitches. Here’s how it’s done:
  1. Turn off your Samsung Galaxy S7.
  2. Press and then hold the Home and Volume UP keys, then press and hold the Power key.
  3. When the Samsung Galaxy S7 shows on the screen, release the Power key but continue holding the Home and Volume Up keys.
  4. When the Android logo shows, you may release both keys and leave the phone be for about 30 to 60 seconds.
  5. Using the Volume Down key, navigate through the options and highlight ‘wipe data / factory reset.’
  6. Once highlighted, you may press the Power key to select it.
  7. Now highlight the option ‘Yes â€" delete all user data’ using the Volume Down key and press the Power button to select it.
  8. Wait until your phone is finished doing the Master Reset. Once completed, highlight ‘Reboot system now’ and press the Power key.
  9. The phone will now reboot longer than usual.
Remember, factory reset can fix a lot of software issues but if nothing changes after you do it on your phone, that means that your S7 has a deeper hardware problem. You must consider repair or replacement if you can’t bring it back to its normal state after a master or factory reset.

Problem #5: Galaxy S7 can’t turn on Ultra Power Saving Mode | “Emergency manager service has stopped” error on Galaxy S7

Hi. When i turn on or restart my device an error says, “Emergency manager service has stopped” and a few seconds later, it says “Disabling ultra power saving mode.” This in itself is not very annoying, however, i cannot activate Ultra Power Saving mode on my device. I feel there might be a correlation between these errors and my inability to activate ultra power saving mode. Any help greatly appreciated. Regards. â€" Brian
Solution: Hi Brian. Emergency Manager is one of Android’s core system apps so you must treat the error just like when you do a normal one. The first thing that you want to do in this case is to wipe the cache partition. This will help ensure that Android is using an updated system cache. Sometimes, updates and installations can corrupt the system cache, resulting to problems such as causing apps to work erratically. Wiping the cache partition will force the phone to bu ild a new system cache. Here’s how it’s done:
  1. Turn off your Samsung Galaxy S7.
  2. Press and then hold the Home and Volume UP keys, then press and hold the Power key.
  3. When the Samsung Galaxy S7 shows on the screen, release the Power key but continue holding the H ome and Volume Up keys.
  4. When the Android logo shows, you may release both keys and leave the phone be for about 30 to 60 seconds.
  5. Using the Volume Down key, navigate through the options and highlight ‘wipe cache partition.’
  6. Once highlighted, you may press the Power key to select it.
  7. Now highlight the option ‘Yes’ using the Volume Down key and press the Power button to select it.
  8. Wait until your phone is finished doing the Master Reset. Once completed, highlight ‘Reboot system now’ and press the Power key.
  9. The phone will now reboot longer than usual.
Should the phone continues to exhibit the same errors or problems, you can also try to wipe the Emergency Manager Service’s data. Unlike normal apps, this one can’t be uninstalled so you are limited to performing a virtual reinstall by wiping its data. Here’s how it’s done:
  1. Open the Settings menu either through your notification shade (drop-down) or through the Settings app in your app drawer.
  2. Navigate down to “Apps”. This may be renamed to something like Applications or Application Manager in OEM skinned versions of Android 6.0.
  3. Once in there, c lick on an application.
  4. You’ll now see a list of stuff that gives you information about the app, including Storage, Permissions, Memory Use, and more. These are all clickable items. You’ll want to click on Storage.
  5. You should now clearly see the Clear Data and Clear Cache buttons for the application.
We think that the main issue of you not being able to turn on Ultra Power Saving Mode is tied to the “Emergency manager service has stopped” error. If the problem continues after you wipe the app data, your next move would be to wipe the phone with factory reset. This issue is most likely a software problem so we believe a factory reset will fix the issue for good.

Problem #6: Galaxy S7 “Unfortunately the process com.android.systemui has stopped” error when pressing Home button

This is for my Samsung Galaxy S7! Every time I hold my home button my phone comes up with the error “Unfortunately the process com.android.systemui has stopped” (I attached a photo of it). After I hit “ok” my phone kind of freezes, my wallpaper turns black for a second, and it goes right back to my lock screen. I am unsure how to fix the problem and the last thing I did differently was try to download a wallpaper for my phone off of some website on google. I also did that 2 days ago, but when I downloaded it I could not find the download in any of my “downloads” or pictures. I haven’t downloaded any new apps for at least 2 weeks either. I would appreciate any of your help to fix my phone, and I am sorry if this is slightly confusing. â€" Meghan
Solution: Hi Meghan. We haven’t encountered this problem before so it’s either a rare issue with Samsung devices, or an isolated case due to something unique to your phone. We hope that the problem is not due to hardware malfunction. To verify this, kindly do the following:
  1. Open the Phone app.
  2. Dial “*#0*#” (without the quotes).
  3. Select the Sub key box.
  4. Press the Home button. If the screen turns blue after you pressing the button, that’s an indication that it’s ok.
The next thing that you want to do then is to check whether or not the problem is being caused by a third party app. You can do that by restarting the device in safe mode. If the error won’t show while safe mode is on, that’s a confirmation that one of your apps is to blame. Here’s how to do it:
  1. Turn your Galaxy S 7 off.
Should the issue remains even when you restart the device to safe mode, the cause may be found on the operating system level. In this case, you want to factory reset the device. Doing so will force the phone to return all software settings back to default. If you haven’t tried a factory reset before, doing it now may be the only to resolve the issue. We are assuming of course that you did not root your phone or modified the official Samsung software. If you did any of these things, you can also look at the possibility that a custom software may be to blame. In this case, you must reach out to the developer or the community that creates or uses the said software for answers.

How to use the Folders in the music player of a Samsung Galaxy S2

Yesterday I showed you how to sort the songs on your Samsung Galaxy S2 into things like "Genre" or "Year" and quickly mentioned the method of sorting the songs by "Folder". Now using the "Folder" option is a bit different to using the other options as the other options take are list from the tags the songs have however the "Folder" is dependent on the actual "Folder" the songs are kept in.

To explain this in a simple way you need to go onto your PC or Laptop and look at your music folders. In my case I have folders for specific artists mainly though I also have specific folders for things like "Podcasts" and "Comedy music". Originally these were made to keep my computer slightly tidier than it would have been to have 100s of Podcasts lying around the place though when put onto the phone they serve a second purpose of grouping things together.

If you look at the screen shot to the left that we have here (from Scotts phone which is genuinely a mess) youll see most of the folders just correspond to albums such as "Healthy in Paranoid Times" by Our Lady Peace and "Hot Fuss" by The Killers. Though you can also see that he has a folder called "Kaiser Chiefs", this folder just keep all the tracks by the Kaiser Chiefs in one place so that they are easy to play together (and many of the lack the correct "Artist" tag).

What you need to do on your computer to create these "Folders" is create a folder on your computer as you normally would then place all the tracks you want into the same folder. Then copy the tracks into your phones music folder.
Alternatively you could use an explorer or the "My Files" app on your phone to create new "Folders" in your main music folder on your phone to create these pseudo playlists.

Samsung Galaxy S4 Not Connecting To 3G

Samsung Galaxy S4 Not Connecting To 3G
Problem: After a factory reset done due to full internal memory, the 3g has stopped working! The icon is turning green but the mobile is not connecting and the mobile is not receiving the configuration message from the operator as well. Before the message was arriving imme diately. The connection is configured well manually and the sim card is working in 3g with my old galaxy s3 mini. Thanks
Solution: Since you can connect to mobile data when the SIM card is transferred to another device then we can eliminate any account or network signal related problems that can cause this issue. The most probable cause behind this is that the APN settings of your phone does not match the one you network is using. I suggest you compare your phone APN settings to the one your network is using then make the necessary changes if needed.

Vodafone

Over the last week weve found ourselves wrangling with Vodafone n the UK. Our payment date was changed to THURSDAYS despite the fact we made clear in the original contract more than 2 years previous that we got paid on FRIDAYS. In February they tried to take a payment that obvious bounced and WE were hit with the direct debit cost of £8. We understood that and CALLED the customer services the following month to get the direct debit changed.

The CUSTOMER service advised us to CANCEL the direct debit (which we did) and pay online the day the money was in out account and set up a new direct debit, simple...right? The following day we did cancel the direct debit (AS ADVISED) and eve went into a Vodafone store to advise them them of our decision (we werent asked for ANY details in store). Come the following day, the day we told the customer wed be able tom pay the bill...their online customer service desk kept giving up "technical errors". Technical errors are understandable u sually, but when they are the followed by an e-mail saying the following:

"Hi, Weve received your payment and we are currently processing it. If you need any more information, or help, our online Help Centre is open 24/7. To view your bills and manage your account online, visit www.vodafone.co.uk/myaccount. Yours sincerely ,Vodafone Customer Care. This is an automated message. Please do not reply to this email address."

Note we got 4 of those e-mails...then on Monday morning we get cut off.

Now to me, maybe Im being simplistic, we should NEVER have received those E-mails IF their was a technical error. First thing on Monday morning however, they let the SAME payment from THE SAME card go through no issues.

We have made a note of this on Vodafones own forum, if we do not get a reply we will be cancelling every contract as they cone to an end and we will be moving to O2, Everything Everywhere or 3 as wel feel this isnt o nly ridiculously but is utterly disgusting.

Vodafone the ball is in your court, we WILL make anything you say public, so make sure not to screw us again. We pay in excess of £70 a month, Id expect that would make us "valued" customers.

How To Fix Common HTC One M8 Problems and Errors Part 10

M8 Bluetooth Issue
ProblemWhen I use a Bluetooth device with my HTC One M8 the phone will switch the audio source from the Blueto oth device to the handset during the conversation. I have tried restarting the phone, un-pairing and re-pairing the Bluetooth, doing a factory data reset, and even went to Verizon with the problem and got a new replacement phone. Still the same issue! Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.
Solution: Have you tried replacing your Bluetooth device? The problem may not be with the phone itself but with the Bluetooth audio device. If the problem still occurs when using another Bluetooth audio device then follow the troubleshooting steps below.
First make sure that your phone is running on the latest software update. A new software update means that there are improvements and bug fixes included which may help solve this issue. To check for a new update go to >Settings > About > Software updates.
Next, delete the Bluetooth pairing between your phone and the device. Go to Settings > Bluetooth to do so. After deleting, try to connect again.
Finally, when naming your Bluetooth device avoid using special characters.
M8 Phone Calls Can’t Be Heard
ProblemHi there. My wife has an HTC M8 and recently, every phone call she makes or receives, she cannot hear anyone on the other end. When I have called her, I can’t hear her at all. This is only resolved by her putting her headphones in. We are located in the UK. Any ideas/solutions would be massively appreciated!! :) Many thanks.
Solution: From the way you described the issue there seems to be something wrong with the audio speaker of the phone . If this is the case then you should bring your phone to an authorized service center for checking. Before bringing it though you should eliminate any possibility that the problem is software related. To do so you should do a factory reset on your phone. Make sure to back up your data first as this will be deleted in the process.
  • Turn off device
  • Press and hold the VOLUME DOWN button, and then press and hold the POWER button.
  • Wait for the screen with the three Android images to appear, and then release the POWER and VOLUME DOWN buttons.
  • Press VOLUME DOWN to select FACTORY RESET, and then press the POWER button.
Once the factory reset has completed try to make a call and see if you can hear the person on the other end.
M8 Multiple Issues After Android KitKat 4.4.4 Update
ProblemI bought my HTC one M8 month ago then yesterday it asked to update to Android kit Kat 4.4.4 so I agreed after the update the motion gestures is not working right as it should be and the camera doesn’t open when I flip the mobile in horizontal way and press volume button, also the lock screen widgets disappeared and I can’t get it back, I hope you help me with this issues. Thanks in advance.
Solution: Whenever you encounter issues right after a major software update on your phone it is always a good idea to do a factory reset. These issues may be caused by data from the old software version which is still in your phone and has not been completely removed. This causes a conflict with the new software version which leads to these issues. The best way to remove this old data is by performing a factory reset. Make sure to back up your personal data before proceeding as this will be deleted in the process.
M8 Does Not Connect to Email Server
ProblemI have a job that uses e-mail frequentlyâ€"to the point that I need to have my email connected to my phone. I had recently gotten the HTC One M8 after I cracked the screen to my last HTC One (Not M8) severely. However, I cannot seem to get this phone to connect to a server. The email is a corporate one with its own domain, so I have to manually set it up. I have had my boss and a friend who is more tech-y than me look at it and they are stumped. The info is correct and everyone else with different phones seem f ine but this phone refuses to connect to the server. Is this a frequent HTC One M8 problem?
Solution: Assuming that the settings are all correct and that your phone is connected to the Internet then the problem may be with the phone. This could be app related or system related.
If the problem is caused by the email app of your phone then clearing its cache and data will help. Take note that all the settings and emails in your phone will be deleted so be sure t o make a backup.
  • From a home screen, tap Apps (located at the bottom).
  • Tap Settings
  • From the DEVICE section, tap App manager.
  • From the ALL tab, tap the Email app
  • From the Cache section, tap Clear cache.
  • From the Storage section, tap Clear data.
Try entering the correct settings for your corporate email and see if you can connect to it this time.
If you still can’t connect then try doing a soft reset by pressing and holding the Power key and Volume Up key for 10 seconds until the phone restarts.
M8 Not Getting Software Update
ProblemI own an HTC one m8. It is the AT&T version of the phone. I’m wondering why my phone hasn’t updated yet to KitKat 4.4.3. It has been a while since the update rolled out yet my phone is stuck on 4.4.2. I’d appreciate your guidance in this matter. Thanks.
Solution: If your phone hasn’t notified you of any software update yet then you can try checking for it manually. To check for a new update go to >Settings > About > Software updates. Just follow the prompts once an update has been found.
To verify that your phone has been updated follow the steps below.
  • Drag down the notification bar with two fingers, and tap Settings.
  • Scroll and tap About.
  • Tap Software information.
  • Tap More.
  • The following information displays: Software version: 1.58.502.1, Baseband version: 1.16.21331931. LA11G_20.31A.4145.02L, Build number: 1.58.502.1 CL335549 release-keys

How to fix error 489 in Google Play Store Android

Update for "app" could not be downloaded due to an error 489 in Google Play Store- This error can affect any app or game- Facebook, Viber, Dead Trigger, Clash of Clans etc. Most of the times this update/download error seems to resolve automatically after a few hours. In my case, it was due to a poor internet connection and when I switched to mobile data, the problem was solved. However, it can also occur sometimes due to a Google Play Store bug and may require you to clear data/cache of Google Play app. I have posted below two possible methods to fix error 489 in Google Play Store.

How to Fix  Google Play Store Error 489 on Android Devices

As shown in the image below the exact error format is like this: Update for “YouTube” could not be downloaded due to an error (489).

Update for “YouTube” could not be downloaded due to an error (489)

Method 1: Removing and adding Google account

This is the same method used to fix other Google Play Errors like RPC:S-5:AEC-0, Error 924 and Error 907.
  1. Go to Settings >> Accounts >> Google
  2. Select your primary Gmail account >> Press menu button on your device and Sele ct “Remove account”
  3. Again, Go to Settings >> Accounts >> Google >>Select “Add account” >> Choose “Google” >> “Existing “
  4. Add back the Gmail account you removed in the previous step
  5. Open Google Play Store app and download the app or game that was giving the error 489 initially

Method 2: Checking network connection

The 489 error is mostly resolved by resetting or changing your internet connection medium. Check your Wi-Fi speed by opening a normal website on your mobile browser. If it doesn’t open or takes too long to load, then your network is having some problems right now. Turn off torrents or anything that’s consuming the bandwidth. Try to run the installation again. If you have access to the router, turn it off and wait for 10-20 seconds. Then turn the router on again. Sometimes this resolves the slow connection issue and lets you download apps or games from Play Store without giving the error 489. If your connection is not fixed, you have to switch to a different Wi-Fi connection or you can use your mobile data for the installation, but the latter might cost you extra so don’t download a very large games via mobile data- unless you have subscribed for unlimited data plans.

Method 3: Uninstalling and reinstalling the app

If you are getting the Android error 489 during update, you may be able to fix it by simply uninstalling the app or game that you are trying to update, and then reinstall it in Google Play Store.

Method 4: Clear cache for Google Play Store and Google Play Services

  1. Go to Settings >> Apps >> All
  2. Now from the app list select "Google Play Store"
  3. Tap "Force Stop" and "Clear Data"
  4. Similar from the app list select "Google Service Framework"
  5. Tap "Clear Data"

Method 5: Uninstall Google Play Store updates
Many Google Play Store errors are caused by operating system incompatibility with Android market. In such cases, uninstalling the latest Google Play updates will fix the error.
  1. Go to Settings >> Apps >> All
  2. Select "Google Play Store"
  3. Tap "Uninstall Update"
  4. Open Google Play store and try to download/update your app or game

The secret tricks of Android live wallpapers

In the past weve looked at setting different wallpapers on the Samsung Galaxy S2, with one of the options being "Live Wallpapers". Whilst some of the Live wallpapers are a bit...boring or have a technical function (think of the weather wallpapers) others have secret little things to do.

The "Galaxy" wallpaper (see the screen shot on the left) is one of the more boxing live wallpapers. Whilst its normal effect is quite good the only "trick" here is that you can "tilt" the galaxy image by dragging your finger to a corner.

The "Nexus" wallpaper creates lines where ever you touch the screen. Whilst this is almost the android version of a windows style screensaver it is fun to see that you do have an effect when your press on the screen.
The best of the secrets on the Live Wallpapers is on the "Microbes" screen (see left) in which pressing on the screen places some white dots. These dots act as "food" for the microbes who will run over them and then multiply so you can end up with a screen full of microbes like in the screenshot.

Whilst these are pointless little secrets it still just adds something, in fact the Microbes screen sort of gives you a mini game if your incredibly bored.

Many users have fixed this error by simply clear ing the cache of “Touchwiz Home” from the app settings. Others have solved it by rebooting into recovery and wiping cache partition. Another method involves disabling motions and gestures from settings. There are several solutions to Touchwiz has stopped error and they are mentioned below:

Before trying the different methods, you should do a simple reboot test. Turn off your device and remove the battery. After a minute insert battery and then turn on your smartphone and see if that fixes the error. If it didn’t work proceed to the methods below:

How to take a Screenshot on a Samsung Galaxy S2 with ICS

When the Samsung Galaxy S2 first came out it was using the "Gingerbread" version of Android since then however the Galaxy S2 has been updated to "Ice Cream Sandwich" (or ICS). Whilst the update to ICS was a pretty big step forward it also changed a few things about how the phone operated, notably how a user took a screen shot.

Originally to take a screen shot with the Samsung Galaxy S2
a user had to p ress the Home Button and then swiftly press the power button, as described in our original guide.

Now however the user needs to press and hold both the volume down and the power button for around 2 seconds. After doing this the phone screen will "flash" and you will get a message like the one in the screen shot on the right with the phrase "Saving Screenshot..."  This means your screenshot is taken.

A few seconds after the "Saving" message you will see a new message saying "Copied to clipboard" then you are all done and the image is saved. From here you can either "Paste" the image into an e-mail or message (as long as its still in your clipboard) or go into your gallery and find the "Screenshots" folder, where the screenshots will now be stored in.

Note-This isnt as easy as the old method, so you may find yourself needing practice. The best advice is to hold both buttons until the screen flashes, if the volume shows on the screen however try a gain.

Product Review PhoneJoy

Last week we at the Mobile Phone Tips and Tricks Head Office in sunny England got a nice large box sent to us from “PhoneJoy Solutions” the people behind the “PhoneJoy” controller. The control which resembles the Dual Shock control from the Playstation line of home gaming consoles is one of a handful of Bluetooth based gaming controls that can be used to play games on Android phones, though how good is it?

Firstly we had to set the control up for the phone, to do this we followed the very straightforward guide on the PhoneJoy website (click here to read that guide) and with in 10 minutes the phone and control were paired by bluetooth and we were ready to go . Next we had to find something we could test the control on, for us it was obvious, we were going to use the emulators we had on the phone which allowed us to test a lot of the control such as its flexibility and its re-activeness.

After booting up N64oid we quickly mapped the N64 controller to the “PhoneJoy” and we were ready to go with games such as Goldeneye, F Zero X, Diddy Kong Racing and Banjo Kazooie. It didnt take long at all (30 minutes tops) to get used to the control and it soon became second nature. As soon as we got the hang of the control the racing games were a real joy to play, it was smooth, responsive and incredibly easy. F Zero X had become the game wed all loved from the 1990s, Diddy Kong Racing was the same ludicrous fun that we all knew and loved...and then we got to Goldeneye and this was where we had one of the few niggles we had. The analogue stick just seemed a little bit too jumpy for the accurate shooting sections in the game and instead of allowing us to get clear head shots we were really having to rely on the auto-aim far too much for our liking. Weve read that this is actually down to the software or the emulator rather than the control though it is incredibly irritating who-ever we are to blame. Im willing to give the control the benefit of the doubt (due to how well it works with the other N64 games) though it is still worth noting for people who are big FPS fans. Weve also had issues using the “Analog” setting of the control though at the moment Im still putting this down to the software more than the actual controller, hopefully we will see this sorted out in the future as this is really the only issue regarding how it works.

The second, much bigger issue we have with the control is its portability. We know its based very blatantly on the Dual Shock controllers used by Sony in their Playstation consoles though whilst its a good design and its very easy to hold and use...its also rather large. The control wont easily fit in your average pocket and for something that is trying to make gaming portable thats not a good thing. What also doesnt help is that the control cant be “bracketed” or physically “connected” to the phone like a number of the other devices on the market. Instead the control comes with a stand that the phone can sit on whilst you use the control and in some environments this is fantastic (at home, at a friends or even on a train) in other environments however this is difficult (think sitting in a car or a bus). Its a sort of weird pay off, you get a very usable and natural controller that youll be used to using though its not the most mobile or one you can use in ev ery situation.

Now weve gotten the big issues out of the way well be honest we really like it. We think it helps you get a lot more out of emulators and some Android games (though we mainly used it on emulators). It has got its issues and its not perfect though were not going to have a “perfect” control for a while yet and this does what it needs to do wonderfully well, the battery is incredibly long lasting and easy to charge the stand has a number of uses outside of just gaming and the control is a joy to use. Its made playing games from my our childhood much more enjoyable than using the poor on screen controls and really brought to life what the Android can do with the right kind of accessories.

At around $35.00 each they are worth the price if you play emulators on your phone (we advise using a top phone though such as the Samsung Galaxy S2 or HTC Sensation XE, as most others will struggle with the better emulators). The pros certainly outweigh the con s and when you think of all the games you really open up as a result of the control its easily the worth. If you want to think of it in another way a working N64 alone costs about the same price as the control and the control can play a lot more games than just an N64.

Pros-
Very affordable
Easy to use
Easy to set up
Long lasting battery
Useful Stand
Bring Android Gaming to a whole new level

Cons-
Does seem to have some issues with accuracy*
Analog doesnt seem to have been perfected*
Not the most portable of devices
No "bracket" fitting

*We think these are software issues

How do I set an alarm on a Samsung Galaxy S2

To set an alarm on the Samsung Galaxy S2 firstly we need to find the Clock application. If you have this on a home screen then fantastic just find it and click it. If however you dont have it on a home screen you may need to open up the Application drawer and select it. If you look to the screen shot on the right hand side you can see "Clock", which is the one you need to select. Oddly there isnt an actual specialist "Alarm" app as some may have expected.

When you first open the Clock application you will see a screen like the one on the left here. From here its relatively straightforward on setting an alarm. Obviously you click where it says "Create alarm" to start with.

After clicking on "Create alarm" you will see a screen like the one here on the right of the page. You use this screen to set everything about the alarm you want to set. From setting what time you want it to go off, to how loud, what days it goes off to what tun plays when it goes off. When youve set everything you want on your alarm you have to press save.

When youve saved your saved your alarm your Clock applications first screen will look like the image to the left with your times and days selected. If you want to selected a number of different alarms you can create another alarm by just fol lowing the above stages.

How to fix Nexus 7 slow after Lollipop Update

The Nexus 7 2012 powered by Tegra 3 Processor and 1GB of RAM handled Android KitKat 4.4.4 perfectly. It ran smooth as butter. The hardware seemed adequate for the upcoming update. However after installing Lollipop 5 system update, many Nexus 7 tablets have become very slow. Switching between apps as well as navigating the Android menu is laggy. When you press the onscreen keys like back, home and menu, the response is very slow. Many times apps force close and the device itself freezes, and you have to hold the power button to turn it off. It gets extra slow when you are browsing the web.

This Nexus 7 freezing, stuttering and running slow issue is also common among users who manually flashed the Lollipop update instead of using OTA. Anyways, the solution is a simple one and most Custom ROM users are familiar with it. All you have to do is access the recovery menu and then clear the cache partition of the Nexus 7. Here is how you can fix Nexus 7 getting slow after Lollipop update:

How to wipe cache partition in Nexus 7

  • First turn off your tablet
  • Press & hold the power button and volume down key at the same time.&nbs p;
  • You will see a m arrow at the top
  • Now tap the Volume down until you select “Recovery”
  • Press power button to enter “Recovery”
  • Now you will see the android distress logo (greet bot, red triangle ,!)
  • At this point, press volume down to select “wipe cache partition” and the press the power button
  • Let the process complete
  • Now go back and select “reboot system now”

Method 2: Temporary fix

This quick fix seems to have temporarily solved the lagging issues on Nexus 7 running the initial version of Lollipop.

  • Swipe down from the top of the screen to access the quick settings
  • From there tap on the “Location” icon to turn it off

Now your device will run faster than before

I hope the above tricks fixed your very slow Nexus 7 2012 tablet. If you have any other solution for this issue please mention them in the comments.
