How to load topmost oldest Facebook messages

Did you ever want to read your oldest Facebook messages? You know, the conversation you had with a dear friend many years back. Right now, Facebook chat doesn’t let you jump to a particular conversation at a particular point of time. Right now you can see the full conversations but when you try to load older messages you will find that that there are thousands of messages there and it takes a lot of scrolling to get to where you want to go. Fortunately, there is a small trick that will help you jump to the very first conversation you had with your buddies. Even after applying this trick, you might need to scroll up a bit to get to the begin of your old conversations.

How to load the top most messages on Facebook

  1. Open mobile.facebook.com/messages on your desktop browser
  2. Now select the person whose messages(conversations) you want to read
  3. Right click “see older messages” and select “Copy link address” Copying Link Address for Facebook Messages

  4. Now open a new tab and paste the copied link there
  5. Now from the pasted link delete the portion starting from &last_message_timestamp = ………
  6. In the link there is another part that says start=7

This start=7 means Facebook will show you messages starting from the seventh most recent conversation. So the latest message is counted as 1. This means the oldest conversation is the total number of conversation you have had so far with that friend.

To view the total number of messages or conversations open Facebook.com (Desktop version). Click on messages >> Select a friend. Now scroll up to read latest conversations and you will see total message count inside brackets in this format: Loading Older Messages… (18074).
Loading Older Messages on Facebook

Quickly note that number. Now in the URL link, simply replace start=7 with start =18074. You can now read your Facebook messages or conversations from long time ba ck.

How to see Facebook messages of a particular date

You can also apply similar trick to view the conversation of a particular date. For this, follow the same steps as above till Step 5. This time on step 6 don’t delete the portion: &last_message_timestamp =1457951363069. The “1457951363069” here is the timestamp in UNIX format. Simply replace this timestamp with your desired. You can use Unix Time Converter get the date and time in UNIX format.

Fix Audio Format AC3 not supported in MX Player

This audio format (AC3) is not supportedIf you have the latest version (1.8 or later) of MX Player, it wont support DTS or Dolby audio coded. This means video files with ac3,eac3,dts,mlp format audio files will not be supported by MX Player. While trying to play such video files the video will appear with no audio, giving an error " The audio format(AC3)is not supported. To fix this AC3 error in MX Player, you will either need to install a different video player app or install a custom codec in MX Player. The former is a faster and easier solution but the latter is necessary if you want to stick with MX Player. Here are the methods to fix this issue:

How to fix AC3 Format Error in MX Player

Method 1. Installing custom codec in MX Player

  • Download All In One custom codec pack from XDA
  • Save the AIO codec zip file in the root directory (main location) of your device
  • Open MX Player app
  • Go to Settings >>  Decoder >> Custom Codec
  • Browse to the folder where the zip file is located and select it.
  • MX Player will automatically load the right codec from the AIO zip file
  • Go to Help >> About
  • Check whether the new custom codec is loaded or not
  • Now open the video file and you should get the audio back with no AC3 format error.

Method 2: Install a different video player app from Play Store

If method 1 didnt work, your other option is to install a different video player app. There are several reliable video player in the Google Play Store. VLC Player is one of such apps and it supports AC3 format audio files.  So you can use VLC app as an alternatice to MX Player.

Samsung Galaxy S6 edge review Software overview 2

Multi Window is part of the app switcher. TouchWiz uses Lollipop-style 3D rolodex of apps, but next to the X button is a button that opens the app across half the screen. The other half is filled in with a similar rolodex with only apps that support Multi Window.

Another way to launch Multi Window is to long press the App switcher key. If the current app supports Multi Window it will shrink to half the screen, the other half will be taken up by the icons of supported apps. If not, you just get the list of apps.
The Settings menu features customizable Quick settings - a selection of the most used options you can use. Below that is the full list, though we prefer using the search function as the extensive features that Samsung has provided can be hard to track down among menus and submenus.

Edge screen

Just like its more compact relative, Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+ offers the cool Edge screen functionality. One of the highlight modes is the so-called Night clock. It shows the time and date on one of the edge strips during the night (or for any int erval of the day you choose, but up to 12 hours). You dont need to do anything to wake this strip up - its always on.

The edge strip, no matter if the Night clock is active or not, can be awaken with a short swipe and then swipe down gesture and it will light up brightly. If Information Stream is active, you can scroll between the different info strips.
People edge, another proprietary feature, is really cool as well - when you you have missed notifications from one of your favorite contacts, you will get a tab of their respective color on the side of the edge. You just need to drag it to the left to see what its about.

How to add an extra Gmail account to an Android phone

Whilst we all know you need to associate 1 Gmail account with an Android phone its possible to add a number of other Gmail accounts, for example a work account and a personal account. This guide will show you how to add an extra Gmail accounts (or accounts associated with Gmail, such as our own @mobilephonetipsandtricks.com email addresses).

Firstly you will need to open the Gmail app and then press on the phones "Menu" button so youll have a screen like the image on the left. From here you need to select where it says "Accounts". When you click on "accounts" your screen will change to
one like the screen shot on the right with a list of the current accounts connected with the phone, the emails in those inboxes and, at the bottom, the option to "Add account".

After clicking on "Add account" the phone will show you a screen that explains what you are actually doing and will give you a quick explanation of why youd want to add another account. When you see that screen just click next and then you will see a screen showing you two options, you can either "Create" a new google account or you can "Sign in" if you already have one. The rest of this guide will be as if you ALREADY have one.

After you have clicked "Sign in" you will need to enter your email login and your password, the phone will then connect with the Google servers and you may be asked to input a security code just to prove you are
human.

After the phone has connected with the servers you will be asked what you would like to sync from the account.Remember that things like Contacts and Calendar appointments will show on your phone, so you may wish to just receive the e-mails (so synch Gmail only). When youve selected which options you wish to sync select "Finish". The phone will then show you a screen where it explains the synching procedure and the notification bar. If youve used the phone for a fair bit you will know everything from the screen anyway so just click "Finish setup".

After clicking on "Finish setup" you will see your new account added to your old accounts on the Gmail accounts screen (like the image on the right). For the first few minutes the emails in the account wont have synched so give it a while and then you will have your accoun t set up and ready to use. You will now be able to send and receive emails for all the addresses associated with the phone.

Fix it CleanMaster failed to grant root to Autostart Manager

Looks like they have some good new for us soon
Most of the users who have recently updated their CleanMaster app are getting Root Access Failed error while using the Autostart Manager feature. The Autostart Manager is supposed to save precious amount of system storage by stopping apps that start automatically in the background.  When you enable this feature you are asked to grant Superuser permission to CleanMaster but even after giving the root access a “failed to grant root” error pops up, which asks you to go to Superuser and again grant permission to CleanMaster. Basically you’re stuck in a loop every time you’re trying to use Autostart Manager.  This issue has already been acknowledged as a bug by CleanMaster, on their Google+ page, and they’ve promised some solution in the upcoming 5.9.9 update. Until then you can try some possible fixes for CleanMaster Autostart Manager  failed to grant root recommended by various forums:
  • Open Google Play Store >> Search “SuperSU” >> Install Update if its available
  • Open the updated SuperSU and grant permission to CleanMaster
  • Open Google Play Store >> Search “CleanMaster” >> Install Update if its available
  • Open the updated CleanMaster >> Phone Boost >> run AutoStart Manager feature
If nothing works just wait for CleanMaster’s 5.9.9 update where they’ve promised a fix. If youre found any other solution or fix for this issue please let us know about it in the comments.

Update: I changed my custom ROM to Cyanogenmod 11 and now the App Manager seems to be working fine. This may be a ROM incompatibility issue. So, you can try flashing an updated ROM on your device.

How to turn on 5 1 sound on a Samsung Galaxy S2

If youve been using youre Samsung Galaxy S2 as an MP3 player and using the default music application you may well have see the small "5.1 ch" option towards the top left of the screen. If youve been a little bit curios odds are youve decided, at some point, to click it and been met with the message you can see on the screen shot to the right:
"5.1 channel can only be activated when sounds effects are off"

If like me you like to tinker about youll almost certainly have clicked on the menu button and clicked settings then made sure you put "Sound effects" on normal. Then youve gone back and clicked the 5.1 option....and seen the same message ago.
If you now click on "Menu" and then "Settings" what you now need to do is also make sure "Equaliser" is ALSO set to Normal. Make sure your settings screen looks like the screenshot to the left in regards to the top 2 options (Note: Visualisation can be left unchecked). When youve set things like this press the "back" button on the phone.

If you now press on the 5.1 button you will see it lights up.and youll have your headphones providing you with 5.1 dolby surround sound technology giving a very different feel to your music the really adds something.

Note: 5.1 is only available when using headphones as he phone speakers cannot provider the correct channel. Pressing the opt ion with out headphones being connected will see a message appear on the screen telling you that headphones are needed for 5.1 playback.

Tethering v Wi Fi Hotspot

With the Samsung Galaxy S2 able to connect a laptop or PC to the internet via either USB tethering or by acting as a portable Wi-Fi hotspot it could be a difficult decision to choose which option to take. This little entry will try to explain the difference, the pros and the cons for the two systems.

First what they are:
The Wi-Fi hotspot is where the phone is effectively used as a wireless router using the phones mobile internet (Packet Data) to allow computers or laptops to browse the internet wirelessly. This method is wireless and allows for upto 8 computers to connect to the phone at once. The syst em is one that would well well for a small group of users.

USB tethering is where the phone is literally connected by a USB cable to the laptop or computer and the phone can either act as a USB Wi-Fi adapter or it can use mobile internet to allow the computer to connect to the internet. This system offers only a single connection and operates as a wired network as opposed to a wireless connection.

Effectively on paper they do the same basic thing, they allow you to use the phone to connect a laptop or computer to the internet, though there is a number of difference, and not just the wired v wireless comment (as you can connect the phone to a laptop whilst still using it as a portable Wi-Fi hotspot).

Firstly the battery life, if you are using the Wi-Fi hotspot option (unconnected) you can often run down a full battery in just a few hours as its hugely battery intensive sending out the Wi-Fi signal none stop. If youve a plug socket or a USB cable make sure you have the phone connected or it will die pretty swiftly. On the other hand if you are using a USB tether youre phone will constantly be charging via the computer/laptop that its connected to and the battery wont be an issue.

Security is another issue, the USB connection is the more secure option as only your device will have a connection whilst with Wi-Fi you can either forget to put a password on the hotspot or your password could be hacked. In fact in an extreme situation your phone could be snatched as someone walks by much easier than if it was tethered.

In public its probably best to try and use a the USB tethering option, however dont rule out using the Wi-Fi hotspot mode at the right time. For example using the connection in your own home, you could easily put the Wi-Fi mode on and connect through that whilst walking around the house. The Wi-Fi hotspot mode does allow a lot more freedom, you dont need to drag the phone around with you just to ke ep connected. In fact, although I wouldnt advise it, you could basically use the Hotspot as the houses internet connection.

As well as their difference they both come with some similar drawbacks. Remember youll only have the speed of the mobile internet connection. You wont have the greatest of connections (especially not in the British countryside) and youll also need to keep a close eye on your usage, especially if you have a capped allowance as normal websites arent created with mobile internet connections in mind and it can become expensive if you go over your limit. With this in mind Id advise you to use 3G Watchdog with both methods just to keep an eye on things.

Neither method is "right" or "wrong" just use the one that you prefer and that suits your circumstances the best.

How to send texts to multiple contacts with a Samsung Galaxy S2

When it comes to wanting to send the same message to a number of separate contacts you can do it a few ways including by copying  a text or forwarding. The easiest way however is to send the text to a number of different contacts. With the Samsung Galaxy S2 smartphone this is actually a lot more simple than some may first think. Starting with a new text message screen such as the one on the right you simply add a single
recipient, such as the image on the right that has "Bee" as the first recipient.

To add a second contact you need to click in the box that says "Enter recipient" and type th e name of the second contact you wish to send your message to. In the case of this example its "Callieflump Womble". If you wish to add further contacts you need to repeat this stage over and over to add all the contacts you want.

When you are done adding your contacts you will see the first contacts name and then the additional number of contacts. You then need to write the body of your text and click send. Its all rather simple and although there are other ways to do it this is probably the simplest way to send a text to more than one person.

App icons automatically added to home screen after installation Android Tips

If you have just bought a new Android phone or tablet, you will notice that whenever you install a new game or app via Google Play Store, app shortcuts appear automatically on the home screen. This could result it a lot of clutter, making the Android homescreen/desktop very messy. Most people prefer to keep their Android home screen clean with enough room for important widgets. If you end up downloading a lot of apps at once, then it will be a chore to delete all the automatically placed icons because you’ll have to delete them one by one. However, it’s very easy to turn off adding of icons to home screen when new apps are installed in Google Play Store.

Here ar e the steps to stop automatic addition of app icons on your Android home screen:
  • Open Google Play Store
  • Go to Settings
  • Uncheck “Add icon to Home Screen (for new apps)
Disabling "App icons to Home screen" in Google Play Store settings

Now the icons won’t appear on home screen after you install or download any new apps. You can also turn off auto-update apps, clear local search history from your device and disable app update notifications from the Google Play Store settings.

Samsung Galaxy S6 Screen Not Turning On Issue Other Related Problems

Samsung Galaxy S6Welcome to another installment of our troubleshooting series where we help our readers troubleshoot the #Samsung Galaxy #S6 issues that they are experiencing. For today’s topic we will tackle the Galaxy S6 screen not turning on issue & other related problems. As we all know, everything that you need to do with th e phone has to be accessed through its display. If the display is not working properly then it’s very likely that you will be unable to use your phone. We have selected several of the issues of this nature that have been sent to us recently and have addressed them below.

If you would like to browse the previous parts in this series then check out this link
S6 Screen Not Turning On
Problem: Just today I was playing soccer on a wet basketball court when I slipped and fell into a large puddle, my Galaxy S6 was in my hand as I fell, and although it didn’t stay in the water for long, it did get splashed by it. I thought nothing of it and kept playing until it started ringing and I tried to answer, I quickly noticed that the phone was working, but the screen was not turning on, although the touch itself was. Would replacing the screen fix this? Thank you
Solution: It appears that the screen may have suffered some water damage. You should first try to place your phone in a bag or rice for at least 48 hours. This will absorb the moisture that is present inside your device. After 48 hours turn on your phone then check if the display works. If it doesn’t then you will need to have the display replaced.
S6 Screen Does Not Light Up
Problem: Was working fine and I was listening to music on it then I stopped and set it down for about 30 mins . When I picked the phone the blue message light was blinking and the screen will no longer light up so I can do nothing with the phone . I did fully charge it to make sure it was not low on battery but still won’t work .!!! Help
Solution: Try to simulate a battery pull in your device first. This is done by pressing and holding down  the power key and volume down key simultaneously for at least seven seconds.
If the issue remains then start your phone in recovery mode then wipe the cache partition on your device.
S6 Screen Is Black And White
Problem: I was cross country skiing yesterday, took a video and put the phone back in my pocket.  Later when I looked the screen was in black and white. I tried the obvious, checking battery save options which were off.  I restarted the phone and the first 2 screens came up in color then went to black and white again.  Now I can’t do anything though the home page comes up, it won’t react to tou ch at all.  I can hear vibration alerts but aren’t able to select anything.  Also can’t shut it down because can’t press any option on the screen.  Can you please help??  Thank you!
Solution: It looks like the display of the phone may have been damaged. TRy to simulate a battery pull first and see if this resolves the problem. To do this just press and hold the power button and volume down button simultaneously for seven seconds. Your phone will restart after this. If the issue still remains then check if you can access the recovery mode. If you ca n then I highly suggest you do a factory reset. Take note that this will delete your phone data so make sure to have a backup copy before proceeding with this procedure.
If the above troubleshooting steps fail then I suggest you have your phone checked at an authorized service center.
S6 Screen Brightness Keeps Changing To Dim
Problem: My phone was used for a half marathon to listen to music and since then the screens brightness keeps changing to really dim. The only way I can correct it is if I turn the phone on and off. The back button and menu button also doesn’t work at all. Doesn’t light up and doesn’t work at all. Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks
Solution: Since aside from the screen dim issue you are also having a problem with the menu and back button not working I suggest you perform a factory reset on your phone. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing this.
S6 Screen Is Dark After Getting Wet
Problem: Dropped in water. Only slightly wet and dried right away.  Vacuumed ports. Turned off immediately. Would turn on but the screen is dark.
Solution: It appears that the display may have been affected by the water. If you phone is still getting notifications and everything seems to work except the display then try to check if a battery pull will solve the issue ( press and hold the power button and volume down button for at least seven seconds). If the problem remains then have your phone checked at an authorized service center.
S6 Screen Not turning On After Drop
Problem: I drop my phone on the ground and the screen will not turn on it is all black but the screen lights up at the top and turns off.
Solution: Try connecting your phone to its wall charger then turn on your phone. This will eliminate the possibility of the problem being caused by a low battery charge. If the issue still persists then the drop may have damaged the phone display. I suggest you hav e your phone checked at an authorized service center.

Sony Xperia Z3 and the Z4 Tablet getting Marshmallow as well

#Sony started rolling out the#Android 6.0 #Marshmallowupdate for its #XperiaZ5 lineup yesterday. The company has now announced the rollout of the update for the #XperiaZ4Tablet as well as the #XperiaZ3+ from mid-2015. The update should arrive over-the-air or OTA, so make sure you’re on the lookout for Marshmallow if you own any of the aforementioned devices.
The update will bring Google Now on TapDoze Mode as well as advanced control over notifications. Some Sony specific changes will be onboard as well. Since all models offered are unlocked and off contract, we don’t think there will be a lot of waiting to do to see Android 6.0 on your Xperia Z3+ or the Z4 Tablet.
The Xperia Z3+ and the Xperia Z4 Tablet are not the most popular devices from the company. But it’s very refreshing to see that Sony keeps them supported with the latest updates.
Already seeing the update? Let us know.

How To Fix Common HTC One M8 Problems and Errors Part 30

How To Fix Common HTC One M8 Problems and Errors [Part 30]

Aside from sending us an email you may also contact us through ourFacebook and Google+ social media accounts.
M8 Sending Duplicate Text Messages
ProblemHello, I’m hoping you have a solution to this problem as I haven’t been able to find a fix. Any time I am sending text messages using the built-in messaging app, duplicates sometimes triplicates of the text are being sent, and this happens with every single person I text to. When I send the text, the little message symbol has a clock on it as if it’s “buffering” or waiting to be sent, and while that’s “buffering” a second duplicate text pops up and is sent, finally followed by the original message text. It’s very frustrating. I’ve tried rebooting and clearing the cache but to no avail. I don’t know what else I could do. Thank you for your input!!
Solution: Do you have access to another phone? If you have then take out the SIM from your M8 and insert it in this other phone. Try to send a text message and see if it send out normally without any duplicates. This allows us to determine if the problem is with the SIM or with the phone.
If the problem does not exist while your SIM is inserted in another phone then place it back on your M8 then start it in Safe Mode. This will verify if the issue is caused by certain third party apps installed in your phone.
  • Press and hold the Power key.
  • On the screen, touch and hold Power off under Phone Options.
  • When the ‘Reboot to safe mode’ message appears, tap RESTART.
  • When the phone restarts it will be in safe mode.
Try sending a message. If the problem does not occur then it is likely caused by a third party app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
If the issue persists even in Safe Mode then you should consider doing a factory reset. Make sure to back up your data before proceeding.
  • Press and hold the Power button
  • Tap Power off.
  • Press and hold the Volume Down key.
  • Press and release the Power key to turn the phone on.
  • Continue holding the Volume Down key.
  • Release the Volume Down key when the three Android images appear on the bottom of the screen.
  • Press the Volume Down key twice to move the cursor from FASTBOOT to FACTORY RESET.
  • Press the Power key to perform the master reset.
M8 Stuck At Boot Logo
ProblemHi I have been reading your site and hope you can help me with my problem with my M8. I have had my M8 for about 9 months and I absolutely love it I am a huge HTC fan, I had the the HTC One X before this one and I don’t think I would ever go to a different device, but any way, while out working my horses my phone randomly turned off while in my pocket, my phone had a full charge but I put it on the charger just in case it may have depleted since the last time I looked. After several hours I was still unable to turn my phone on so I tried two different chargers and finally got my phone to flash the big battery telling me it was at 100% and now I have done several reboots on it holding the power button and the volume up button but it will not go past the HTC ONE screen that comes up after the AT&T symbol. I have tried to do multiple reboots to try to get it to fully restart but still nothing it just stops at that screen and then freezes from there…..any suggestions???
Solution: Try wiping the cache partition of your phone and see if this resolves the issue. Unlike a factory reset that deletes all data on your device this procedure just clears out the temporary data in your phone.
  • Turn off the device.
  • Press and hold the Volume Down key.
  • Press and release the Power key to turn the phone on.
  • Continue holding the Volume Down.
  • Release the Volume Down key when the three Android images appear on the bottom of the screen.
  • Press the Volume Down key once to move the cursor from FASTBOOT to RECOVERY.
  • Press the Power key to begin the wipe.
  • The device displays the bootup screen followed by a phone with a red triangle.
  • Press the Up Volume key and Power key at the same time.
  • Press the Down Volume key three times to select Wipe cache partition.
  • Press the Power key to initiate the wipe.
  • Wait until the phone displays Cache wipe complete.
  • Press the Power key to select Reboot system now.
M8 Keypad Issues After Lollipop Update
ProblemI downloaded an update today to my HTC one. I’m really not sure if it was the lollipop update or not, but since the update my messages are completely screwed. It is almost as though the keypad is set to another type of phone. I can’t send a text message. I can’t comment on Facebook nor can I message on Facebook Immediately after the update, it took a while for certain apps to start and it changed my ring tones etc. My carrier is C-Spire in Mississippi and I cont acted them this afternoon about this issue. They attempted to do a reset on their end but it didn’t work. I was told I would need to come into C-Spire to fix the issue. Please help!
Solution: I suggest doing a factory reset on your phone since it seems like there are a lot of issues after the update. This may be caused by data from the previous software version that has not been completely removed on your device. Before proceeding make sure to backup all your phone data (photos, contacts, music, messages, etc.).
M8 How To Prevent Text Message From Being Sent
Problemhi, can you tell me how to stop a text immediately after pushing send because you realize that you were sending to the wrong person after pushing send? with my old phone- I just had to push the end/hang up button to stop the text from going through. thanks. I have the HTC ONE M8.
Solution: You must be quick enough to pull this off. While the message is attempting to send immediately enable airplane mode. Force stop the messaging app then cl ear its data. You can also go back to the Messaging app and check if the message you attempted to send is still there. If it is then delete it.
M8 Won’t Charge If USB Plug Is Moved
ProblemI have an HTC One M8 which is about a year old. A few days ago my phone started charging erratically.  If the micro USB plug is moved even a little where it plugs into the phone it won’t charge. Any idea what’s wrong?
Solution:  The charger USB cord may be faulty. Usually, the wires inside it gets cut when the cord is constantly bent. Try changing the USB cord and see if the issue still persists.
Another possible cause is that there may be dirt in your phone charging port. If you spot any then clean it out usi ng a toothpick.
M8 Can’t Access Text Messages After Lollipop Update
ProblemHello, I’ve just done the 5.0 upgrade on my HTC One M8 and now I can no longer access my text messages. The “Text” messages app opens and I can see all the different people who have texted me, along with the first few words of each text. However, when I attempt to open any one text I can’t. It begins the open process, and you can see the loading wheel spinning, but the text message(s) never load.
Solution: Try clearing the cache of your messaging app and see if this helps.
  • From any Home sc reen, tap Apps.
  • Tap Settings.
  • Scroll to ‘PHONE,’ then tap Apps.
  • Scroll left to the ALL tab.
  • Tap the Messages application.
  • Tap Clear Cache.
M8 Stock Email App Lags
ProblemHi, I hope you can help. Two weeks ago I bought my first HTC One M8. I am running the default mail app. Currently I am only using one mail account on this handset, however I would hope to be able to load my other accounts at some point providing I can resolve this glitch; that is, the phone is lagging really badly in the mail app. At times it can take me over a minute to simply scroll and select mail, or to open particular messages or do a simple search; the app simply ceases up completely. I have also noticed that moving from one mail folder to another (say, from sent items to inbox) can take many minutes. I completely rely on mobile email. This is enough to make me yearn for my trusty blackberry! I have checked software and it is up to date. Restating the phone makes no difference. I am running a straightforward IMAP account. Any help greatly appreciated!
Solution: Clearing the cache of the stock email app usually helps in this case.
  • From any Home screen, tap Apps.
  • Tap Settings.
  • Scroll to ‘PHONE,’ then tap Apps.
  • Scroll left to the ALL tab.
  • Tap the Email application.
  • Tap Clear Cache.
M8 Cracking Sound In Speaker
ProblemHi, whenever I play a song or a video at maximum volume, I hear a crackling noise from the top speaker… But when I press my thumb over the top speaker the crackling sound is not there and returns back as soon as I remove my thumb… Please help…
Solution: This is caused by the volume of your phone being placed in maximum and is also experienced by most M8 owner. Updating the software of your phone generally resolves this issue (the updated software may have a lower maximum volume level).
M8 Music Files Disappear
ProblemHello, i hope you can help me i have a HTC one M8 version 4.4.4 when i use the htc sync manager to install music on my sd card. My first attempt was just mass  clicking all the music i wanted on my phone once i had it on my phone i would try to listen to it  and it says it was unable to play that music file which i made sure all the music was mp3 format. Then i tried installing an album at a time since i was installing a lot of music that seemed to work fine for a few days, today i wanted to listen to some tunes and its back to the same thing unable to play this music format then when i go back all the music is gone from my music file on my phone lol its like there is a gremlin living inside it. PLEASE H ELP
Solution: Are the music files saved in the microSD card of your phone? If so, then this may have developed some bad sectors causing the music files to be unreadable. Try saving the music in the internal storage of your phone and see if the problem still persists. If it does then wipe the cache partition of your phone.
M8 Can’t Go Online When On Mobile Data Connection
ProblemGood day! I have a question I just got the HTC one m8  six mont h ago I now Im having a problem regarding the subject above I cant open google playstore or facebook apps using my mobile data even is on and full of signal its still says Please check your network connection. When I switch to Wi-Fi its normarlly running, and doesn’t have a problem, can you help me to solve this problem.
SolutionAre you able to access the Internet using your mobile data connection? If not then you should first check if your data subscription is active. If it is then the next step is to check the APN settings of your phone and see if it matches that of your carrier. If there are any differences then make the necessary changes.
To access the APN settings of your phone
  • From any Home screen, tap the Apps icon.
  • Tap Settings.
  • Tap the Conn ections tab.
  • Tap More networks.
  • Tap Mobile networks.
  • Tap Access Point Names.
From here just tap on the APN of your carrier then make the necessary changes. You can get the correct APN settings of your carrier from their website.
M8 “error retrieving information from server [DF-DFERH-01]” Error
ProblemHello The Droid Guy, I use the HTC M8,for about two days now i haven’t been able to access my playstore from my phone. It shows me “error retrieving information from server [DF-DFERH-01]”. Any help on how i should go about it would be appreciated. Thanks.
Solution: This error message appears to be triggered by different conditions. What you should do first is to try to reset your router and modem if you are connected to your own Wi-Fi connection. If that does not work then try using your mobile data connection when accessing the Google Play Store.
If the issue persists do the following
  • Go to Settings â†' Applications â†' Manage Applications
  • Select the “ALL” tab, Search for “Google Play Store” and press it to open.
  • Press “Force stop”
  • Press “Clear cache”
  • Press “Clear Data”
  • Open Play Store
You should also try to delete the Google account from your phone then add it again if the above troubleshooting steps fail.
M8 SMS Lagging After Lollipop Update
ProblemI recently upgraded my htc One m8 to lollipop. Now, in the few contacts that I message heavily, the device appears to lag as it populates the screen. There is a noticeable delay when I press a key for the letter to appear. This does not happen with contacts that I have only texted a few times. However, I like having all of the texts from a particular contact, and do not want to delete those simply to make the device run more quickly. I know there is third party software that allows you to upload messages off your device for storage, but again, this is an inelegant solution to a problem that did not exist before the lollipop upgrade. Any help you can give is appreciated.
Solution: This seems to be a common issue of the phone after the Lollipop update. What you should do is to try to clear the cache of the messaging app and see if this does the trick.
  • From any Home screen, tap Apps.
  • Tap Settings.
  • Scroll to ‘PHONE,’ then tap Apps.
  • Scroll left to the ALL tab.
  • Tap the Messages application.
  • Tap Clear Cache.
M8 Can’t Open MMS Photos
ProblemOk, I am completely out of options. I purchased this phone through AT&T so its not an unlocked phone. I went to HTC for help they told me to contact AT&T to have my issue resolved. I spoke to AT&T they said to call HTC. I am attaching photos to this email of screenshots of the issues that my phone is having as well as model information. Before the update to 4.4.4. I was having the same issue. It only occurs when using MMS. I originally thought that it was only messages sent from iPhones. However, it turns out it is all manufacturers. The main reason why this is such an issue, I’m a police officer and occasionally, almost daily, I receive photos of potential suspects sent to my phone for identification. However I cannot get those photos which obviously causes an issue and a safety concern. Any sort of help would be greatly appreciated.  Not to m ention, I hate Apple…. Thank you!
Solution: I suggest you try to delete the AT&T APN setting of your phone then add it back again. To do this go to
  • From any Home screen, tap the Apps icon.
  • Tap Setting s.
  • Tap the Connections tab.
  • Tap More networks.
  • Tap Mobile networks.
  • Tap Access Point Names.
Find the AT&T APN and delete it. Tap the Menu key, and then tap New APN. Try the following settings listed below.
  • Name: AT&T
  • APN: pta
  • Proxy: <Not set>
  • Port: <Not set>
  • Username: <Not set>
  • Password: <Not set>
  • Server: <Not set>
  • MMSC: http://mmsc.mobile.att.net/
  • MMS proxy: proxy.mobile.att.net
  • MMS port: 80
  • MCC:
  • MNC:
  • Authentication type: <Not set>
  • APN type: default,admin,fota,mms,supl,hipri
Try sending yourself an MMS. If you can’t send or receive one then contact AT&T and have them confirm the correct APN for your account.
M8 Won’t Go Into Sleep Mode After Lollipop Update
ProblemHello, about two days ago I had updated my Verizon HTC One M8 to Lollipop 5.0.1 and in doing so I put the screen timeout to 30 minutes. After it was successfully done installing the update and the phone restarted, I switched the timeout back to 2 minutes. But now it won’t even go into sleep mode at all and because of it, the battery gets drained more than usual. Only way to make it sleep is by pressing the power button. I’ve tried setting it to auto sleep and at 15 seconds to see if it wasn’t just me that was tripping, but again it won’t go into sleep mode. Before, normally if I haven’t used the phone and left it for the period of time the screen timeout it is set to, it will automatically go into sleep. Can you help with this? Thank you in advance.
Solution: If the setting the auto sleep feature of the phone does not work then a factory reset is highly recommended. Make sure to back up your phone data before proceeding.
